Heston was found wondering the streets and put in a pound and to be PTS. Luckily he was taken by Lincoln Greyhounds and now he is in foster with us in Lincoln. All he needs now is his permanent home.
Heston is ready to go he has been castrated chipped and he is currently having his injections updated.
He is 9 years old and that is all we know about his past life. Heston just loves people and wants to be around them. He loves cuddles and sometimes will come and speak to you, to let you know he wants to be stroked. He understands basic commands and knows when he has done wrong he hides his head under his leg, he is so funny. A very affectionate and loving greyhound. He settles well at night and he usually does not get up until 8.00 – 8.30am.
He loves to play in the garden, will fetch and play with toys and will have a mad moment and just run and run around the garden, will often just bring a toy to let you know he wants to play, he then has to rest to get his breath back but he loves it. For an oldie he is very energetic. He handles well on a lead when out on a walk. And as long as he gets a couple of walks a day he is quite happy, we have taken him long and short walks he does not mind.
Travels well in the car took him to the coast for the day, and he was fine, he was quite happy sitting in the boot, we have a hatchback so it was a lot easy for him, he does sit on the back seat quite happily though.
Heston is toilet trained, he likes to eat his food and will then run into the garden to have a pee. Often you will walk him and then he prefers to go to the loo in the garden.
Heston is not food aggressive although can snatch when trying to give him a treat. This is something we are working on. Heston is not very dog friendly, we have yet to find out which dogs he likes and dislikes, so would advise that he is the only dog, having said that he may be alright with another greyhound. Some dogs he wags his tail like mad, others he growls and barks. So we are careful when taking him for a walk. Neither is he cat friendly.
Our children are grown up so the only contact he has had with children are neighbours and family. He has responded well to them, but they are around 10 years of age, so probably would not be best suited to younger ones.
Heston does follow you around the house, but we have left him for 3 hours and everything has been fine on our return. On the whole Heston is a big softy, just wants to curl up on the settee next to you. He would make a very good companion. Just needs his forever home. Need more information or just want to meet him. Just ask.
